The development of problem behavior in children: an empirical study

The study tested the hypothesis that mothers with high levels of anxiety and depression educate their children so that they are developing and/or behavioral problems are compounded. The sample consisted of 388 children 2–9 years and their main carers. Mothers and tutors filled out questionnaires on socioeconomic status families, their own anxiety and depression, child behavior problems and methods of education. Inconsistent discipline mediated the relationship between maternal anxiety and depression, taking into account other factors of problem behaviors of children. The results can improve the quality of care «problem» families.
